Parasites We Have Known and Loved
(aka The Belltower Beast)
Parasites We Have Known and Loved was a large collaborative “monster-foraging” expedition that took place at Gorzanow Palace, Poland. Around twenty participants joined landscape-reading walks, a becoming monster meditation and movement ceremony, and parts of a week-long inflatable construction workshop. The project culminated in a large-scale architectural parasite. Emerging from the Palace’s bell tower, the monster references local ecology (particularly the site’s abundant giant slugs), the highly fungal environment of the leaky and moldy 17th-century building, and the palace’s darker past as a World War II women’s labor camp.
